Gdansk Shipyard
1945 - Heritage site
Overview
The Lenin Shipyard where strikes in August 1980, led by Lech Walesa, forced the first independent union in the Soviet bloc and cracked the foundations of communism. The famous gate with its crosses and the European Solidarity Centre now anchor the memorial site.
