Overview
The first iron framed building in the world, built in Shrewsbury for flax spinning to a design by Charles Bage. Its cast iron columns and beams pointed the way to the steel skeleton skyscraper, earning it the nickname grandfather of skyscrapers. Later a maltings, it has been restored by Historic England.
