Overview
Richard Arkwrights first water powered cotton spinning mill and the breakthrough work of the Industrial Revolution. Built in a Derbyshire valley, its water frames spun cotton continuously with shift workers replacing skilled cottage spinners. The factory system of disciplined, round the clock production began here.
