Carlsberg Valby Brewery
1847 - Partly museum
Overview
J C Jacobsen brewed his first lager on a Valby hillside outside Copenhagen in 1847. In 1883 Emil Christian Hansen isolated pure lager yeast in the old brewery laboratories, the foundation of every modern lager. The historic site is now a heritage and museum district.
